This project consisted of the restoration and refurbishment of a derelict convent in Tralee Town Centre and its conversion into a new sheltered housing facility for the HSE. The project construction works involved: • Removal of existing asbestos roof slates and floor tiles by L&M Keating’s own trained operatives • Implementation of building monitoring procedures • Demolition of sections of the building • Shoring and temporary support of the existing building • Underpinning of external walls • Protection of internal historical features and fittings • Structural upgrading of existing floors and roof • Re-slating of the roof • Restoring existing timber windows and doors • Re-plastering external walls • Restoration of existing historical fixtures and fittings The site is situated in a town centre location inside an existing housing development and adjacent to several schools. Therefore extensive traffic management and pedestrian management procedures were put in place. |
