| QUILTY SHORE PROTECTION WORKS, Co. Clare. |
This work was carried out to stabilise Boulder Clay Cliffs, which were being eroded by Atlantic storms at Quilty, Co. Clare. A number of dwellings had ended up within metres of the cliff edge. The project consisted of soil nailing the cliff and provision of a gunite facing, as well as ancillary works such as fencing, extension of drainage, water outfalls etc. A 20,000t rock armour revetment was created along the high water mark to further protect the shore. The only plant access to the site was across a beach at low water and created a considerable logistical challenge. |
