| TERMONBARRY BRIDGE, Co. Longford |
The N5 Termonbarry Bridge Rehabilitation Contract required the replacement of the 4 No. support bearings to the vertical lifting span and the bridge expansion joints at the lifting span. Removal of existing surfacing and waterproofing membrane and reinstatement by blast cleaning, waterproofing and mastic asphalt was required. Also, vertical alignment consisting of removal and resurfacing of the carriageway wearing surface and footpath realignment works were carried out on the approach to the lifting span. Deck drainage replacement works were also carried out along with Mechanical and Electrical works to adjust the lifting mechanism. As these works were located on a National Primary Route, N5, a detailed Traffic Management Plan had to be put in place for the duration of the works. All County Councils involved approved the Traffic Management Plan which consisted of 50No. Diversion Signs and 6No. VMS (Variable Message Signs) at major junctions. These signs were put in place for the duration of works. |
