Using BIM, Keating produces high-quality construction designs that allow for a seamless handover.

Cross Berth Quay Berths 26 & 27, Dublin Port, Alexandra Basin Redevelopment

Contracted by Dublin Port Company, Keating's Design team played a crucial role in this project. This was the first project delivered by the newly established Engineering team. Their input added significant quality and savings in programme for the Client resulting in the full detailed design and Construction being delivered in an impressive 10 months.

Delivery of the design included management of 6 detailed design consultants under various engineering disciplines as well as the development of over thirty-five bespoke temporary works designs, including precast concrete, piling frames, single sided trench boxes, traffic management etc. We conducted optioneering studies, a site investigation and contamination management plans, and monitored testing regimes.

The completed project consisted of 165m of secant piled combi-quay wall, and included 2 linkspan bankseats. It was delivered under a NEC3 contract through a design and build commission and consisted of treatment and disposal by sea of contaminated waste, installation of tubular piles in Dublin boulder clay, installation of 30m deep raking ground anchors in Dublin boulder clay and several other features.

Alexandra Basin Contaminated Dredge & Demolition works

The works comprise dredging of Alexandra Basin and disposal of arisings, removal of the Berth 28 Revetment Area, disposal of dredged bed material, demolition of Ramp 4 and adjoining abutment, demolition of Boliden Tara Mines Bulk Conveyor, Bulk Conveyor Building and Bulk Jetty.

This project is being delivered under a NEC 3 Design & Build contract where the design team is managing over 8 detailed design disciplines, 6 specialists design consultants and will execute over 30 temporary works designs and assessments. It involves the dredging and treatment of contaminated dredge material requiring the establishment of a licensed, on site, treatment facility. It also involves the design and execution of heavy lift and shift operations with some individual lifts in excess of 540t.
